The Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express began commercial operations in June 2025 — the first time in history that a passenger train connected the Kashmir Valley to the Indian mainland rail network. The 272-kilometre Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link, thirty years in construction through some of the most difficult terrain in the Himalayas, produced a railway that crosses the Chenab River on a bridge approximately 359 metres above the water — the highest railway bridge in the world. The journey from Katra to Srinagar takes approximately 3 hours on the Vande Bharat Express and passes through a series of tunnels cut through the Pir Panjal rock including sections where mobile connectivity drops completely before the valley opens on the far side. Bon Voyagers handles the pickup from Katra Railway Station and covers five nights with a private Innova, Xylo or Scorpio class vehicle from Srinagar onward. Day 1 takes the Vande Bharat from Katra to Srinagar with the Chenab Bridge crossing in the first section of the run. Days 2 through 5 cover the Kashmir valley circuit — Pahalgam in the Lidder Valley, Sonamarg on the Sindh River, Gulmarg on the Pir Panjal foothills and Srinagar for the final overnight before the airport drop on Day 6.
